About the performance:
Conceived by choreographer Abigail Levinea soft afternoon is an exchange of creative work, personal and critical reflections by poet Kimberly Alidio, composer Seth Cluett, performance artist Asia Stewart, and dancer and scholar Kristopher KQ Pourzal. Borrowing its format from a course once taught by Alvin Lucier, a soft afternoon expands the vision of who the fabled experimental avant garde of New York was, what it did, and how it has been repurposed, re-politicized, reimagined, and remade. Conceived as a preamble to Levine’s forthcoming performance Six Quiet Dogs, this program is supported by a grant from Brooklyn Arts Council.
